Details Salon

In salon/spa on December 30, 2008 at 1:48 pm

On the East Side of town there is a lovely small business for spa and salon treatments… Details Salon. The Downtown St Paul location is tucked into the Lowry Condo’s building off of 6th-close to the courthouse.

Excellent services (4 stars out of 5) for both nails and eyebrows. Any salon that serves up a smile, great services and a cup of soothing tea always gets a nod from Mochablue!

If you’re over that way let them know Mochablue sent you!

Cheers!

Ta’s Salon- Styling, Nails & Tanning

In salon/spa on November 26, 2007 at 10:39 pm

Finally a new salon that is relatively close to me.  Ta’s salon just opened and they are fabulous! The salon is located adjacent to Bremer Bank on Brooklyn Boulevard in Brooklyn Center.  The space is knockout – very calming, beautifully styled with my favorite colors – chocolate brown and blue – they say great minds think alike.  Ta, the owner is very friendly and her style emanates throughout the salon.  Already they are getting quite a following and they have just had a soft opening this past month – hopefully a grand opening will develop soon.  Highly recommend as they (Mayye-my stylist) in particular turned my mane of hair into something Rockstar.  Mayye was also helpful with tips on keeping my locks in good shape.   At the time they did not have before and after pics but they are beginning to do that as well.  Wash, trim, blow out, and styled for only $55 + tip.  For my hair type this is an incredible price.  They also have wi-fi internet access while you wait.

Next visit will have to do a mani/pedi.  Additional services include tanning with hopes for massage in the near future.  Definitely worth  the price.  Highly highly recommend!

Thomas Charles Salon Hair, mani’s & pedi’s…

Can’t say enough good things about Jeff and Sherry Psihos at Thomas Charles Salon. Jeff is on the main floor and does fantastic work no matter what types of hair you have- in my case curly, long, mixed race hair. If your looking for updo’s check out Beth Ann- she’s at the same salon.

For mani’s and pedi’s- Sherry does both and they are a true luxury. To attest to her talents some clients actually fly in from out of state to be pampered!

Thomas Charles is just off of Minnetonka Boulevard next door to Yum.

June- Father’s Day, Graduations & Weddings!

In Shopping, salon/spa on June 15, 2006 at 1:05 am

Already June is at the half way point and summer days are counting down much too fast.  Hopefully you've already planned and made those gift purchases for the days ahead- Fathers day on the 18th (Sunday), the high schools have let their young out to face the world and the colleges/univerisities bright students are preparing to make their impact on the world!  Lets not forget all the engaged couples and newlyweds eager to start their new lives as 'adults' preparing their nests for their families.  Not sure of what or where to get a memorable gift to mark the occasion?  Be sure to inquire with the families as to what they might be yearning for or at least to see where the gift registries may be.  Some fav's of Mochablue's you may ask?  I'm a bit partial to the following stores for their wide selections of goodies…

Patina gift shops

Target (Minnesota mainstay!) -bullseye!

Bibelot gift shops

Need unique ideas?  Here's a couple….

For Dad – Paloma's Groove Money Clip- From the store with more…Tiffany's-

Paloma's Groove Money Clip

For Grad   Baekgaard ~ Leather Passport Cover-Stlyish and portable for their new travels in life

For Brides & Grooms to be – a treat either before or after the nupituals to keep them pampered and relaxed day at the Spa!  If Dolce Vita doesn't mean the sweet life to you try any of the wonderful salons we are fortunate to have in metro area… although it is one I have not tried (yet) I have heard good things about their services.

New trend- old trend- Threading…

In salon/spa on May 26, 2006 at 1:57 pm

While I was visiting in California my fabulous sister in law (actually I'm blessed with 3!) treated me to the 'threading' experience.  Now I have a very low pain tolerance and I hate hate hate plucking but you do what is necessary… any rate- my first time to have my brows threaded… it is a ancient art that orginated in the East- India, Middle East.  Now the search for a threading salon here in the good ol' midwest begins – I'll let you know how I fare.

The experience in California painless?- Ummm- not exactly- but it was LESS painful than waxing and plucking.  My eyes were watering a bit as she threaded away!  Will I do it again?  Definately!  It was less painful than waxing and plucking.  Here's a link that explains the process a bit better and gives you a index to Spa's across the country (who of course belong to this listing….) http://www.spaindex.com/Lifestyles/Threading.htm
